The older you get the less cool bringing your lunch in a lunch box to a public place seems. Work, school, parks, lunch dates, and social gatherings of all kinds will leave your self made image in shambles if you even try to approach with your box shaped buddy. There is only one solution to this problem: raise the lunch box cool factor or raise lunch box sensitivity and awareness.
The Problem
When did lunch boxes stop being cool? At one time every worker and every school child in every state and city had a lunch box and brought it with them. There were fanciful designs of bands, action heros, political statements, and cool colors. They came in all shapes and a variety of sizes to meet the demands of the people. There were metal collectible lunch boxes. There were soft soothing lunch boxes. There were even regular, dull, highly effective, plastic and felt mixed lunch boxes. Lunch boxes had it all, so why did brown baggin' it become so popular? Perhaps it had something to do with the terribly wasteful tendencies of our society in order to scorn the idea of a reusable lunch carrier. Perhaps it had something to do with the baby boomer generation and counter culture, which scorned the responsibilities of looking after and putting away the lunch box after lunch was finished. Perhaps the children that grew up with lunch boxes came to scorn their childhood items in the spirit of teenage rebellion that would continue throughout their lives. No matter how it happened there is no denying the chilling fact that the paper and plastic bag usurped the cool factor throne right under the nose of the lunch box.
The Solution
We have accepted the reality that lunch boxes are no longer all that cool. What we have to do now is find out a way to bring back the style that should have never died. First we need to reach the parents of students and adults who bring lunch to work. Those parents usually pack the lunches of the student and as such have the say on what the food gets transported in. In our era of energy conservation and the need for reusable, clean resources you must make it clear that buy using a paper bag and throwing it away will hurt our planet and destroy the rainforests. Also make it clear to the parents that by making a one time purchase of a stylish lunch box you don't need to waste time with drab paper bags that just end up wasting money and space. They will end up saving money and be trendy at the same time.
To the students and people who end up taking the lunch box you have to make it clear to them that they can make a fashion statement with their box. By picking out a trendy modern box you can say that you're cool and that it's cool to tote your box shaped statement around. Then others will pick up on the trend and lunchboxes will return. To get little children to get on the lunch box train all you need to do is put fads and trends on lunch box covers and use blatant fad based marketing.
With these tricks in mind you will no longer have to be ashamed to carry around your handy box. You will be able to carry it in style with your head held high that you helped set a trend. Good luck entrepreneur!
